A poem for my grandmother

R.I.H Grandma Haskins <3

R.I.H Grandma Haskins ❤

This poem is something I wrote that is near and dear to my ❤

Grandma

I now have a guardian Angel — looking down on me.

My guardian Angel makes homemade ice cream and sweet ice tea.

The woman who is responsible for my love of rice and gravy —

All the love and kindness she gave me.

“Come here my Littlest Angel.” I recall her sweet voice.

“Coming Grandma!” I would surely rejoice.

Weekends at grandmas house —

Driving to the store.

Her fancy church clothes and clip on earrings —

She surely wore.

The usual choice —

and her Lincoln town car.

It warms my soul to know you are no longer suffering,

But it hurts my heart to know I no longer selfishly have you to myself.

Every time I walk past your room –

I’ll look to Heaven and think—of you.

I will remember and cherish the memories of you forever — Grandma Haskins.

Thank you for all you have done —

Grandma Haskins.

Thanks for staying with us for so long, keeping up the fight.

Year after year not knowing if you would make it through the night.

Grandma was always scared but I knew–you would be– all–right.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust —

You sure shocked the hell out of us —

Many more years you gave

You strong-hearted-woman.

Your blessing to this earth is now complete.

I wont say goodbye –

But so long –

Until again—we meet

Love,

Your littlest Angel ~
